Large-capacity terrapin farms, powered by solar heat and supplied with hot water from thermal power plant, have been built in Waudo District of Nampho City and Sunchon City of South Phyongan Province.

And the construction of terrapin breeding grounds is nearing completion in Popdong County of Kangwon Province and Thaechon County of North Phyongan Province.

Similar works are pushed ahead with in North and South Hamgyong and Hwanghae provinces, too.

From long ago, terrapin has been known as a tonic for its good taste and medicinal effect.
