Botanical Museum
Pyongyang, November 4 (KCNA) -- At the area of the Central Botanical Garden in Pyongyang, the capital city of the DPRK, there is the Botanical Museum, which helps the working citizens and schoolchildren acquire knowledge on domestic and global plants.

The museum consists of a greenhouse and a scientific knowledge dissemination hall.

More than 150 species of rare flowers and trees are growing at the greenhouse. On display at the scientific knowledge dissemination hall are data on the evolution and development of plant kingdom, plants growing on the earth and the use and conservation of plant resources.

The museum was built on the initiative of President Kim Il Sung and under his detailed guidance.

Examining a master plan for botanical garden in June Juche 54 (1965), the President gave an instruction on building a botanical exhibition (at that time) there.

When visiting the museum on April 1, 1977, he gave precious teachings for spreading the plants of economic value and developing the country's botany so as to improve the people's standard of living.

In recent years, the museum has acclimatized tens of species of rare plants like Cycas revoluta, Chamaedorea elegans and Rhoenix hum to climate conditions of the country.

It is now striving to put the preservation of plant species growing in tropical, subtropical and temperate zones and their cultivation on a scientific basis of high level.
