Famous Mt Ryongak in Pyongyang
Pyongyang, November 6 (KCNA) -- Mt Ryongak is one of the famous mountains in Pyongyang, the capital city of the DPRK.

The name Ryongak was derived from the shape of this mountain resembling a dragon in the posture for flight.

The mountain with a height of 292 meters is famous for its odd rocks and cliffs, graceful geographical features, a crystal-like spring gushing out from a gap of rock and historical relics like Popun Temple and Ryonggok School.

Growing there are hundreds of species of plants including zelkova Ryongaksan, a natural monument.

One of its best fine sights is to get a bird's-eye view of Pyongyang and countryside from Tae Peak.

Touring the mountain, President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il indicated the orientation and ways for turning it into a cultural resort for the people.

As a result, a climbing route to the top of the mountain was laid well and resting places were arranged for climbers.

At the foot of this scenic mountain, there is the Mangyongdae Children's Camp Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un went round.

For its beautiful scenery, Mt Ryongak is called Mt Kumgang of Pyongyang.
