Efforts for Using Peloid Brisk in DPRK

Pyongyang, November 6 (KCNA) -- In the DPRK, peloid has been widely used in the medical treatment. Peloid resources can be found in more than 80 regions across the country. They include mud at Lake Sijung and sulfur mud in Kwangryang Bay, well-known at home and abroad. Lake Sijung is a lagoon on the shore of East Sea of Korea. In the area, there is a sanitarium for full bath and local fomentation with mud at the lake. This mud is efficacious for chronic arthritic pain, chronic gastritis, aftereffect of operation and nervous system disorders. It has been already used at various sanitariums and hospitals in different parts of the country. Sanitariums are combining pelotherapy and balneotherapy to raise the curative values. Sulfur mud buried in Kwangryang Bay is estimated as one of the first-class peloid resources in the world. According to experts, the sulfur mud is good for activation of metabolism, revival of immune functions and treatment of dyskinesia and inflammation. There is the Kwangryangman Sulphur Mud Processing Factory in Pothonggang District of Pyongyang. In recent years, the factory has produced 10-odd kinds of functional products with high nutritive and medicinal effect. |
