Traditional Fumigation Therapy of Korean Nation
|
|
Pyongyang, November 10 (KCNA) -- Fumigation therapy is one of the traditional Koryo therapies employed by the Korean nation. It is a remedy using vapor and smoke arising from boiling and burning of Koryo medicines, and fomenting with decoction. This remedy is recorded on old medical books "Tonguibogam", "Uibangryuchwi" and "Hyangyakjipsongbang". It has been recognized as an excellent treatment method combined with thermotherapy, diaphoresis and medicinal smoke, which produces no side effect and causes no pains under treatment. Today, the therapy is widely applied on a scientific basis in the DPRK, under the state's policy on public health for developing Koryo medicine. The Koryo Medicine General Hospital, the South Phyongan Provincial Hospital of Koryo Medicine and other hospitals in the country have newly arranged rooms for fumigation therapy to make a signal progress in the treatment of caput femoris aseptic necrosis, synovitis, gonitis, etc. Besides, such medical apparatuses as inhalator for Koryo medicinal smoke were made to raise the effect of fumigation therapy. The fumigation therapy was registered as a national intangible cultural heritage in Juche 106 (2017). |
