Korean Chess, National Intangible Heritage of DPRK
Pyongyang, November 12 (KCNA) -- Korean chess is one of the national intangible cultural heritages in the DPRK.

According to historical records and books, the dissemination of Korean chess started in Koryo Kingdom (918-1392) and it became popular as an amusement game in the period of the feudal Joson dynasty (1392-1910).

Every move of the chess is based on mathematical calculation and logical thought. And its process is divided into three stages--taking up position, to-and-fro conflict and conclusion.

In the country, not only adults but also kindergarteners like to learn how to play this traditional intelligence game. Chess puzzles carried in TV and newspaper are drawing attention of people.
