After the competition, Pak told reporters that she could get strength and courage from picturing in her mind Chairman Kim Jong Il waiting good results and that she would enter the venue of grand festival marking the 60th birthday of the DPRK with Olympic gold medal as a present.

She grabbed three gold medals at the 7th Asian Interclub Senior Weightlifting Championship, set a new record at the 5th East Asian Games and came first in the snatch of women's 58kg category at the 2010 World Weightlifting Championships.

She also proved successful at the 2007 World Weightlifting Championships, the 4th East Asian Games, the 16th Asian Games, the 2011 Asian Weightlifting Championship, etc.

Pak was awarded the title of People's Athlete in 2008.
