Recycling of Plastic Debris Brisk in DPRK

Pyongyang, November 16 (KCNA) -- Recycling of plastic debris is getting brisk in the DPRK. The plastic debris severely destroying environment is one of the acute problems to be solved urgently on a worldwide scale. The Environmental Engineering Institute and the Building Materials Institute?under the State Academy of Sciences developed a technology for turning the plastic debris into fuel and a technology for making different kinds of basic organic chemicals from waste plastic bottles. The Ministry of Light Industry finished the technological preparation for producing Tetron fiber with plastic waste and has propelled a work to arrange its production process. Industrial establishments across the country, too, have used plastic debris for the revitalization of production. The Pyongyang Plastic Building-materials Factory established a system of collecting plastic waste to put its production on a normal basis by recycling a large amount of plastic waste every day. The Rangnang Disabled Soldiers' Essential Plastic Goods Factory arranged a large-scale plastic waste processing process to produce consumer goods with different kinds of plastic waste every year. The Sinwon County Fuel Station in South Hwanghae Province established a process of producing substitute fuel oil with plastic waste to ensure the operation of tractors and mobile threshers. It has also turned out bricks with waste from the fuel oil production course and slag as main raw materials. Besides, the Kamapho Fishery Station has made substitute fuel oil with plastic debris to ensure the normal operation of fishing boats. |
