Patriotic Veterinary Scientist

Pyongyang, November 25 (KCNA) -- In the DPRK there are many intellectuals who have made significant contributions to the development of the nation's science and technology and economy. Among them is Academician, Prof. and Dr. Kim Jong Hui, a winner of Kim Il Sung Prize. As a veterinary scientist, he made a big contribution to strengthening the anti-epizootic work of the country and putting the veterinary bio-medicinal industry on a Juche and scientific basis. After liberation of the country from Japan's colonial rule, he could lead his true life as a scientist under the care of President Kim Il Sung. The President met him in January Juche 36 (1947) and gave him precious teachings for the development of the country's veterinary science. Under the deep care of the President, Kim Jong Hui had worked as a teacher of Kim Il Sung University and head of the Livestock Hygiene Institute, greatly contributing to the building of a new country. In the course he was awarded the country's academic certificate bearing the august name of the President for the first time in July 1948. In the period of the 1950-1953 Fatherland Liberation War, he kept bacterial strains on their own state to ensure the production of medicines for animals. Engaging himself in the work for training of reserves and the scientific research for many years, he carried out tens of research tasks, wrote such books as "Veterinary Microbiology" and "Veterinary Dictionary" and many theses and took part in the edition of "Korean Encyclopedia". |
