Blizzards on Mt Paektu
Pyongyang, December 1 (KCNA) -- The blizzards of Paektu are one of the eight famous scenes on Mt Paektu, the highest mountain in Korea.

Blizzards in the country can be seen only on Mt Paektu, a sublime mountain of revolution. The blizzards on this mountain continue in 230-odd days of the whole year. Their maximum wind speed on Jangun Peak (2,750 meters above the sea level) is 60 meters per second and their instantaneous maximum wind speed is 78.6 meters per second. They would blow away in a moment even deep snows of scores of meters in height piled up along the ridges and valleys.

The blizzards of Paektu are symbolic of the indomitable spirit and stamina of the revolutionary forerunners who had braved all sorts of ordeals, holding President Kim Il Sung in high esteem as the centre of unity and leadership, during the anti-Japanese war to liberate Korea.

In October Juche 103 (2014) Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un climbed Mt Paektu, saying that one has to undergo the blizzards on the mountain so as to feel its true spirit.

The blizzards of Paektu show the faith and spirit of the DPRK people who are advancing toward a new victory of the Juche revolution while weathering the tempest of history in the revolutionary spirit of Paektu under the guidance of the Supreme Leader.
