Folk Street in Sariwon City
Pyongyang, December 1 (KCNA) -- There is Folk Street at the foot of Mt Kyongam in Sariwon City, North Hwanghae Province of the DPRK.

Seen in the street with a plottage of more than 80 hectares are dwelling houses with hip-saddle roofs of Korean style, traditional restaurants, Korean tailor's shop, Koryo pharmacy and pavilions, bridges, history museum and folk amusement halls. There are also models of turtle ship, Chomsongdae (astronomical observatory), rain gauge and other historical and cultural relics and remains showing the wisdom and talents of the ancestors.

The street could be built thanks to the noble patriotism of Chairman Kim Jong Il who had worked heart and soul to add luster to the excellent tradition and customs of the Korean nation.

One day in December, Juche 97 (2008), the Chairman went round the street and stressed the importance to better preserve the excellent folk traditions, saying that the peculiar Korean folklore, developed and enriched through a long history, visibly reflects the national characters including the creative wisdom, talents and tastes of the resourceful and diligent Korean people.
