Overhaul of Irrigation Facilities Brisk in DPRK
Pyongyang, December 5 (KCNA) -- A campaign for overhauling irrigation facilities gets brisk in rural areas of the DPRK as preparations for next year’s farming.

Officials of agricultural guiding organs in provinces, cities and counties have taken measures to concentrate manpower and means on completing the overhaul of waterways on schedule after acquainting themselves with the conditions of the irrigation waterways in their regions.

North Phyongan Province has directed efforts into construction of a gravity-fed waterway for irrigating the reclaimed arable land after completing the Tongraegang Reservoir.

Kumya County in South Hamgyong Province is pushing forward with the large-scale project for reinforcing the Kumyagang gravity-fed waterway at the final stage.

Overhaul of different waterways has been brisk in North Hwanghae Province.

Irrigation management stations and cooperative farms across the country have repaired pumping equipment and worked hard to increase the capacity of water-storing facilities to the maximum.
