In recent years, North Phyongan Province has gained many successes under the banner of achieving prosperity by self-reliance, following the working manner displayed by Kangwon Province.

This year alone, the province newly built or modernized dozens of objects contributable to its economic development and improvement of people's livelihood.

It reclaimed thousands of hectares of tideland and completed a reservoir for supplying irrigation water to the reclaimed tideland, thus opening up a prospect for increasing the grain output.

In order to ease the strain on power, the province is now hastening the construction of two power stations after completing one power station in summer.

The Thaechon Mushroom Farm and the Kujang County Foodstuff Factory were remodeled, and a terrapin farm, a sheep-breeding farm and an up-to-date tree nursery were built. And new processes were established in foodstuff production bases of various counties, including foodstuff factories and fruit processing plants, to boost the production of condiments and processed wild fruits.

The project for updating the existing rabbit breeding farm, fish farm and duck farm was successfully finished some days ago.

Meanwhile, many houses and cultural service centers are being built in Sinuiju City, the seat of the province, and other cities and counties.
