Past Crimes of Japanese Imperialists Aimed to Obliterate Korea's Fishery
|
|
Pyongyang, December 21 (KCNA) -- After illegally occupying Korea early in the last century, the Japanese imperialists had enforced a colonial fishery policy to pillage its rich marine resources. They conducted a wholesale and detailed survey on fishing grounds of Korea during the resident-general's rule and, on this basis, made public "Fishery Act". They wrested the fishery rights and good fishing grounds from Koreans to hand over to Japanese fishermen. And they dispatched Japanese fishermen to Korea massively after allowing them to engage in trawl, dragnet and other fisheries. The Japanese imperialists also monopolized the sea culture which held an important place in fishery of Korea. In 1921, the sea cultivation grounds by Japanese were over four times Koreans'. Like this, Korea's fishery was rapidly gone into bankruptcy due to their harsh plundering maneuvers and many Korean fishermen could not but undergo the cruel exploitation by Japanese fishery capitalists. Entering the 1920s, the Japanese imperialists' moves to plunder Korea's marine products in a big way got more vicious. They extended their predatory machinery rapidly in fishery field. And they shipped most of the marine products pillaged in Korea to Japan and sold them at a high price even in Manchuria, northern China and Mongolia. In and after the 1930s, they had plundered the marine resources more viciously with the aim of producing raw materials for military supplies needed to expand their war of aggression. As seen above, the Japanese imperialists took away without reserve Korea's rich marine resources during their colonial rule over it, and they are the sworn enemy of the Korean people. |
