The institute solved scientific and technological problems arising in introducing rational methods into technical management and water control at hydro-power stations.

Turbines with high efficiency and good operational characteristics were newly developed and installed at hydro-power stations.

By stepping up the improvement of the combined water control system at large-scale hydro-power stations in the network of the state electric power system, the institute succeeded in securing electricity reserves, equivalent to building several minor hydraulic power stations, this year.

The institute newly compiled a book and a design manual detailing the assessment of the amount of underground water in relevant areas and the technical issues in building underground water reservoirs, thus providing a guarantee for doing farming well despite unfavorable weather.

It also completed its research into making fish-ways in overflow dams for sedentary fish in the waters off the dams, which would be conducive to increasing marine resources and protecting the ecological environment.
