Many Minor Hydropower Stations Built in DPRK This Year

| Pyongyang, December 29 (KCNA) -- A work is getting brisk in the DPRK to boost the electricity production and renew the looks of the country by constructing minor hydraulic power stations in a big way for the improvement of local industry and people's livelihood. Many successes have been made in the construction of minor hydropower stations in every province this year. Jagang Province built several minor power stations including the Hungju Youth Power Station No. 4 and created 10,000 kW generating capacity, thus making it possible to satisfy the demand for electricity necessary for the provincial economic development and people's livelihood. South Hamgyong Province completed the Kumyagang Power Station No. 2, a model of minor hydraulic power stations in the country, and constructed the Hamhung Youth Power Station No. 1 and the Kowon Taehung Power Station. Ichon and Munchon army-people power stations were built in Kangwon Province in October and November, the Phihyon Power Station No. 2 using the gravitational Paekma-Cholsan waterway in North Phyongan Province and the Rinsan Ryongsok Power Station in North Hwanghae Province. |
