Youth Movement Museum

Pyongyang, January 21 (KCNA) -- It has been five years since the Youth Movement Museum in Pyongyang, the capital city of the DPRK, was opened to public on January 21, Juche 105 (2016). The museum came into being when the great heyday of the Juche-oriented youth movement was ushered in under the guidance of the Workers' Party of Korea. On display there are the immortal leadership exploits of the peerlessly great men who regarded the youth issue as an important strategic issue related to the destiny of the country and put forward it as the most important state affair to set a brilliant example in the youth movement and build the one and only youth power in the world. Standing in the general review hall of the museum are the colored statues of President Kim Il Sung?and Chairman Kim Jong Il among youths and children. When visiting the newly built museum in January 2016, Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un looked at the statues of smiling Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il?for a while and said that the statues well show the true picture of our society in which the leader and the masses have become a harmonious whole. The museum comprehensively shows the history of the Korean youth movement from 1926 to 2016. It exhibits hundreds of photos showing the peerlessly great men who brought up the youths into the strong vanguard ranks by creating and embodying the unique idea of valuing the youths, and lots of data on their revolutionary activities and revolutionary relics. There are also 890-odd pieces of data on the heroic feats performed by the Korean youths at the revolutionary wars to liberate the country and defend the dignity and sovereignty of the DPRK from the imperialists' aggression and in the annals for the country's prosperity and on their external activities waged to strengthen friendship, unity and solidarity with the world progressive youths. Over the past five years since its opening, the museum has been visited by school youth and children from a total of 8 290 organizations, working people of different strata, servicepersons, overseas compatriots and foreigners. |
