Gift Plants Presented to Peerlessly Great Men
Pyongyang, February 9 (KCNA) -- The International Friendship Botanical House of the Central Botanical Garden is situated at the foot of picturesque Mt Taesong in Pyongyang, the capital city of the DPRK.

Growing at the botanical house are the plants personages of various countries presented to President Kim Il Sung, Chairman Kim Jong Il and the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un as gifts.

Many plants at its greenhouses, including camellia and Bougainvillea spectabilis, put forth foliage and beautiful flowers with the approach of the Day of the Shining Star, the birthday of Kim Jong Il (Feb. 16).

Kim Jong Il received 480-odd kinds of gift plants from heads of state, party leaders and progressive people in over 30 countries. Reflected in those plants are boundless admiration and reverence of mankind for him.

Osmanthus fragrans is the first gift plant presented to him by the party secretary of Guilin City in China on January 21, Juche 65 (1976), on behalf of the Guilin citizens. The party secretary noted that this plant was prepared as a gift to delight the Chairman devoting his all to the rich and civilized life of the DPRK people.

A prominent Japanese botanist newly bred a beautiful and rare flower by his energetic efforts of 20-odd years and named it Kimjongilia before presenting it to the Chairman.
