Koreans in Japan Launch Struggle to Defend Right to National Education
Pyongyang, February 28 (KCNA) -- Koreans in different parts of Japan have continued their struggle for defending the right to national education against the Japanese authorities' discriminatory moves against Korean schools.

The Yamaguchi prefectural network for supporting Korean schools and the Yamaguchi measure committee for the payment of subsidies co-sponsored "Yamaguchi prefectural network action" under the slogan "Right to education for all children!" in Yamaguchi Prefecture of Japan on February 10.

Present there were Pak Chol, chairman of the Yamaguchi Prefectural Headquarters of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon), O Yong Chol, principal of the Yamaguchi Korean Primary and Middle School, and Koreans and Japanese citizens in the prefecture.

Noting that it is the core of the action to make the Japanese government recognize and ensure the right to national education, the speakers said it is a struggle which will lead to Japan's atonement for its colonial rule over Korea.

They stressed that they would continue their struggle for the right of Koreans in Japan and for the right to education of the rising generations.

Citizens of Fukuoka Prefecture held a rally on Feb. 13 to demand the application of tuition-free program for senior high schools to Korean schools.

Speakers at the rally said that the Japanese government has become more desperate in its discriminatory policy against national education for the past ten odd years, and declared that they would continue the struggle for defending the right to national education against the authorities' discriminatory moves.

Then, lawyers of the counsel for supporting Kyushu area made solidarity speeches.

They denounced all courts in Japan for making a false judgment conniving at the state-sponsored discriminatory policy against Korean schools.

An appeal was read out at the rally to express the will to wage a struggle for the application of tuition-free program to Korean schools and kindergartens.
