Then, leading officials referred to the goals to be attained by their units this year, which was followed by speeches for taking pledges.

Speakers were unanimous in stressing that the important tasks set forth at the Second Plenary Meeting of the Eighth Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea serve as a weapon for practice and innovation for attaining this year's goals.

They said they would make a dynamic progress to usher in a new period of great upsurge and turn in socialist construction on the road of advance indicated by the Party Central Committee under the uplifted slogan "Let us thoroughly implement the first-year tasks of the five-year plan set forth by the 8th Party Congress!"

They expressed their will to make a drastic innovation in viewpoint and way of work against the outmoded ones and substantially and unyieldingly push ahead with the work for adjusting and reinforcing the economy.

They stressed that they would thoroughly carry out the tasks given by the Party through scrupulous operations and proficient commands with a firm determination to prove their high Party spirit, revolutionary spirit and popular spirit with their working ability and achievements.

Pledging to attain the highly-set goals without fail, they expressed their resolution to bring about unprecedented innovations in the struggle for realizing the far-reaching plan of our Party.
