On March 2, Juche 35 (1946), President Kim Il Sung climbed Moran Hill in Pyongyang together with Chairman Kim Jong Il and anti-Japanese war heroine Kim Jong Suk and unrolled a far-reaching plan for turning the mountains of the country, badly damaged under the Japanese imperialists' colonial rule, into a thickly wooded paradise for the people.

The DPRK government set this day when the President kindled the flames of the tree-planting movement after Korea's liberation as Tree-planting Day.

True to the noble patriotic intention of the President and the Chairman, the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un advanced the vital tasks for turning the whole country into a thick woodland and greenery in November 2014. And he ardently called on the entire party, the whole army and all the people to turn out in a campaign for forest restoration, regarding it as a war with nature.

The DPRK people turned out as one in the forest restoration campaign, regarding the afforestation and forest conservancy as the greatest patriotic work for the future of the country.

The first-phase task of the campaign for turning all the mountains of the country into gold and treasure ones was successfully concluded and the second-phase task has been carried out from 2018.
