On the day, the President promulgated the "Law on Agrarian Reform in North Korea", worked out by himself, to declare the enforcement of the historic land reform.

The agrarian reform was successfully carried out in a matter of 20 days and thus lands were distributed to poor and hired peasants of 720,000 households free of charge.

With this historic event as an occasion, a musical work "Song of Ploughing" was created in 1947. This song reflects the peasants' gratitude to the President and their feelings and will to do farm well.

Though many years passed, the song is still widely sung among the peasants in the DPRK, inspiring them to a fresh innovation in the agricultural production.

Paek Yong Gon, chief engineer of the Chungryol Cooperative Farm in Phihyon County of North Phyongan Province, told KCNA that they would wage an intensive drive for high-yield and scientific farming while singing the song reverberated throughout the liberated Korea.
