The meeting discussed the issue of devotedly implementing the first-year tasks of the five-year plan set forth at the 8th Congress of the Workers' Party of Korea, the issue of intensifying the struggle against anti- and non-socialist practices throughout the society, etc.

Jang Chun Sil, chairwoman of the Central Committee of the women's union, made reports on the agenda items.

The reporter analyzed in detail the deviations latent in the work of the women's union and their causes on the basis of the main idea and spirit of the Party Congress, and referred to measures to bring about a fundamental turn in the work of the union by fulfilling the duty and role as an ideological education organization in this year's struggle.

She stressed the need for women's union organizations to make substantial contribution to carrying out the first-year tasks of the five-year plan by giving full play to the mental and creative power of the masses.

She underscored the need for women's union organizations to wage an intensive ideological offensive for eradicating anti- and non-socialist practices and further enhance the role of union members in the struggle for consolidating our own-style socialism.
