Last year, tree nurseries across the country cultivated more than one billion saplings of good species in over 100 kinds. Among them are at least two hundred million wild fruit saplings like chestnut, pine-nut, wild pear and wild vine trees.

The Central Tree Nursery under the Ministry of Land and Environment Protection, the Tree Nursery No. 122 of the Korean People's Army and the Kangwon Provincial Tree Nursery produced tens of millions of saplings respectively.

In recent years, modern tree nurseries have been built across the country to expand the sapling production capacity. Several provincial tree nurseries were built and mother tree nurseries and sapling greenhouses came into being in 170-odd cities and counties last year, thus making it possible to produce saplings twice in a year.
