March 8 International Women's Day Celebrated in DPRK
Pyongyang, March 9 (KCNA) -- The 111th March 8 International Women's Day was splendidly celebrated in the DPRK.

Many citizens visited the plaza of the Kumsusan Palace of the Sun, the sacred temple of Juche where President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il lie in state, and recollected with deep emotion the exploits the great leaders performed by enforcing the politics of prioritizing and respecting the women.

People visited the statues of Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il on Mansu Hill and in other parts of the country and the mosaics depicting their smiling images to place floral baskets, bouquets and flowers and make a deep bow before them.

Art performances were given at theatres and on outdoor stages in Pyongyang and local areas.

A concert of the National Symphony Orchestra took place at the Moranbong Theatre and a music and dance performance of the Mansudae Art Troupe at the East Pyongyang Grand Theatre to mark the March 8 International Women's Day.

Members of the art squad of the Central Committee of the Socialist Women's Union of Korea gave an art performance "Song of Blessed Women" at the Hall of Women.

There were a performance of famous songs and scenes of revolutionary operas at the Pyongyang Grand Theatre, a one-act play at the National Theatre and a music and dance performance by the National Folk Art Troupe at the Ponghwa Art Theatre. The National Acrobatic Troupe gave a performance at the Pyongyang Circus Theater.

The central art squad for agitation for increased production, the art squad of the Central Committee of the Kimilsungist-Kimjongilist Youth League and others gave outdoor performances in various parts of Pyongyang, livening up the festive atmosphere.

Artistes across the country gave colorful performances.

Officials of provinces, cities, counties, organs, factories, enterprises and cooperative farms warmly congratulated the exemplary female workers including innovators, scientists and teachers on the March 8 International Women's Day.

Public catering establishments across the country pleased women with kind holiday service.

Husbands and children presented greeting cards and flowers to their wives and mothers who have devoted themselves to society, collective and families.
