Efforts for Increasing Grain Production on Low-yielding Fields Brisk in DPRK
Pyongyang, March 10 (KCNA) -- Preparations for increasing the grain production on low-yielding fields are getting brisk in the agricultural sector of the DPRK.

Thanks to the devoted efforts of officials and agricultural workers across the country, tens of thousands of hectares of acid soil and cold and wet lands have been reclaimed and many fields carpeted with humus soil.

Agricultural workers in Nampho City have spread slag fertilizer, phosphorite and slaked lime over fields on the basis of scientific soil analysis according to each plot. Sandy fields were carpeted with humus soil.

In Kaesong City, steps were taken to raise the grain production in acid soil and cold and wet lands. After establishing a slaked lime-producing base by their own efforts, agricultural workers in the city have spread slaked lime on the paddy and dry fields and ensured easy drainage of cold underground water.

Those in North Hwanghae Province, South Phyongan Province, North Hamgyong Province and North Phyongan Province, too, are concentrating their efforts on the work to increase the fertility of soil on the low-yielding fields.
