Wangjaesan Grand Monument
Pyongyang, March 11 (KCNA) -- In Wangjaesan-ri, Onsong County, North Hamgyong Province of the DPRK, there is the Wangjaesan Grand Monument telling the revolutionary exploits performed by President Kim Il Sung in the period of the anti-Japanese revolutionary struggle.

On March 11, Juche 22 (1933), the President advanced into the homeland and convened on the ridge of Mt Wangjae a meeting of chiefs of underground revolutionary organizations and political workers in the Onsong area.

In his historic speech at the meeting, he laid down a strategic line on expanding the anti-Japanese armed struggle into the homeland under the banner of Juche and aroused all the people to victory in the anti-Japanese revolutionary war.

The DPRK people erected the grand monument on Mt Wangjae to add luster to his immortal feats forever.

Chairman Kim Jong Il wisely led its construction. He examined the blueprints related to the artistic representation of the monument on several occasions and visited the Onsong area in May 1974 to guide its construction.

Thanks to his energetic guidance, the Wangjaesan Grand Monument was completed in October 1975 with the 30th founding anniversary of the Workers' Party of Korea as an occasion.

At the grand monument, there is a statue of the President making a speech with his hand lifted. The monument consists of central group sculptures, main theme sculptures and subsidiary theme sculptures and a monument to the revolutionary activities.

The Wangjaesan Grand Monument conveying the history of the anti-Japanese revolution is a precious treasure implanting the revolutionary spirit of Paektu deeply in the mind of the people.
