Cultivation of New Land and Tideland Reclamation Brisk in DPRK
Pyongyang, March 15 (KCNA) -- A brisk drive for cultivation of new land and tideland reclamation is going on in the DPRK in hearty response to the decisions of the 8th Congress of the Workers' Party of Korea.

Officials across the country have meticulously directed the organizational and political work for attaining this year's goal of cultivation of new land, regarding it as a policy task to expand the area of cropland.

Amid the vigorous campaign for cultivating more arable land, a prospect was opened in Pyongyang City to use tens of hectares of new land as arable land.

South Phyongan Province and South Hamgyong Province are attaining actual results in the cultivation of new land. They launched a vigorous campaign for expanding the cropland area and reclaiming the forest soil with an incline of below 20 degrees, while restoring the flood-stricken lands.

North Phyongan Province provided a guarantee for completing the Woldo tideland reclamation ahead of schedule by successfully conducting the blasting of 200,000 and 100,000 cubic meters of earth. It is now speeding up the Honggondo tideland reclamation while pushing ahead with the embankment project, as planned.
