The state examined the standard for environmental protection and worked out a plan for overall revision.

Works were launched to newly enact or revise laws and regulations on the prevention of water and air pollution, the land and environment protection and supervision, the protection of forest and useful animals, roads and rivers, the treatment of wastes, the environmental impact assessment, etc.

The state has also urged all the units to thoroughly establish a system of examining the stability of ecological environment in business activities including the issues of involving the environmental protection in the plans of production and construction and bringing the economic work close to environmental protection.

Steps are taken to lay a material and technical foundation for grasping the real state of overall forest periodically, establish more environmental observation posts in the main areas of the country and upgrade the present environmental observation and information system.

The state is planning to conduct the survey of major wildlife sanctuaries on all indices and analyze the water quality in hundreds of rivers, streams, lakes and reservoirs.
