Protection of Animal Resources Brisk in DPRK
Pyongyang, March 22 (KCNA) -- A brisk work is going on in the DPRK to protect the animal resources.

The state has designated areas with rich biodiversity and endangered and rare species as useful animal sanctuaries from long ago. On this basis, it set a useful animal protection period from March to July every year to conduct the animal protection work on a nationwide scale.

The protection and propagation of animals are dynamically pushed forward in dozens of sanctuaries across the country, including reserves for musk, deer, antelope and other animals, Dryocopus martius, great tit and other birds, endangered and rare species, special species, natural living monuments and migratory and sea birds.

Entering this spring, provinces, cities and counties launched the works on a mass scale to provide such favorable conditions for animals' inhabitation and propagation as offering salt bags and building pools, feed shelves, nests and man-made caves at sanctuaries.

Each province set new animal sanctuaries and confirmed main protective animals distributed in relevant areas through the survey of existing sanctuaries.

From this year, the Ministry of Land and Environment Protection will make a survey of animal sanctuaries on all indices and grasp the amount of animal resources distributed in the relevant areas, in cooperation with scientists of the State Academy of Sciences.
