Preparations for Afforestation Brisk in DPRK
Pyongyang, March 23 (KCNA) -- Preparations for afforestation are getting brisk in the forestry sector of the DPRK.

Officials of the Ministry of Forestry and provincial forestry management bureaus have mapped out realistic afforestation plans on the principle of planting ten saplings per tree felled.

The Jagang provincial forestry management bureau drew up a tree-planting plan suited to topographical characteristics, and made sure that saplings of highly economic species are cultivated at tree nurseries of forestry stations, mine timber producers and afforestation stations, thus preparing tens of millions of saplings for this year's tree-planting.

Various units under the South Hamgyong provincial forestry management bureau are stepping up the work to clear cutovers at the final stage by rationally allocating manpower, while pushing forward with log and prop timber production.

Forestry officials and workers in North and South Phyongan provinces are putting efforts into storage and maintenance of saplings cultivated with much effort. They work hard to secure more saplings and establish bio-insecticide production processes at afforestation stations by closely cooperating with relevant units.
