The Administration developed surface automatic meteorological observation and radar observation equipment to put the meteorological observation, the first process for weather forecast, on a modern basis, while affording weather data to the relevant units in real-time.

It established a process system on Korean-style super short-, short-, medium- and long-term weather forecast methods to enhance the accuracy of weather forecast and introduced such disastrous weather forecast methods as downpour, rainy spell and hail rate forecast and analysis of typhoon's actual state and forecast on its track.

It also ensures the promptness of weather forecast on the basis of scientific analysis of the climatic change features, solar activity and atmospheric circulation conditions in the country.

Meanwhile, the Administration modernized the oceanographic observation method in keeping with the topography of the country surrounded by sea to enhance the accuracy of marine metrological service like near and deep sea prediction.

Its kind and prompt service on weather forecast has contributed to protecting people's health and taking necessary step in agriculture, transport and other sectors.

On the occasion of the World Meteorological Day (March 23), Pang Sun Nyo, section chief of the Administration, told KCNA that it would further deepen the research into weather forecast and strengthen the collaboration and cooperation with international body.
