Efforts are being put into smoothing the rough river banks and reinforcing embankments, dredging the river beds and creating bank-protecting forests.

Unsan County, Songchon County and others have strenuously conducted river improvement stage by stage to ensure the full supply of water needed for economic development and contribute to protecting the security and properties of the inhabitants and land in their areas.

Cholsan County successfully completed the project of reinforcing river embankments by removing more than 2,500 cubic meters of rubble stones and over 20,000 cubic meters of earth, thus providing a guarantee for protecting 200-odd hectares of paddy fields from inundation.

Kaechon City is pushing ahead with the project for reinforcing several kilometers-long embankments of River Chongchon.

Similar successes are being registered in other parts of the country.
