Tower of Juche Idea
Pyongyang, March 30 (KCNA) -- The Tower of the Juche Idea, a world-famous stone tower, stands high on the bank of the Taedong River which can be seen at Kim Il Sung Square in Pyongyang, the capital city of the DPRK.

The tower was unveiled in Juche 71 (1982) as a grand monument conveying the exploits of President Kim Il Sung who founded the immortal Juche idea that a man is the master of the world and of his own destiny.

It impresses all people for its depth and richness in ideological content and its formative artistic representation.

The basic spirit embodied in the tower is the overall victory of the Juche idea, the great guiding idea showing the road ahead in the era of independence.

Trio group representing a worker, a peasant and an intellectual which stands in front of the torch tower with it as the center, subsidiary groups and pavilions on the right and left of the tower and two huge fountains in the Taedong River and others form a grand architectural group in the vast area.

The torch tower is 170 meters high and it is composed of the tower body, pedestal and a torch.

The 20 meter-high torch, made with red glass, has a special lighting system to look like a flame flaring day and night.

The tower body is composed of 70 granite tiers which symbolize the 70th birthday of President Kim Il Sung and the two faces, front and rear, of the tower bear the letters "Juche".

The front facade of the pedestal is inscribed with a paean for the immortal exploits of the President.

The pedestal is decorated with 70 flowers of Kimilsungia and magnolia, the national flower of the country, and the rear pedestal with choice stone pieces sent from the heads of other countries and figures of the political and public circles and followers of the Juche idea across the world.

The Tower of the Juche Idea shines as the historic monument and artistic treasure common to humankind reflecting the wish and desire of the DPRK people and the progressive humankind who will adhere to the Juche idea through generations.
