National Pencil Drawing, Calligraphy Festival Opens
Pyongyang, April 9 (KCNA) -- A national pencil and calligraphy festival opened with due ceremony at the Okryu Exhibition Hall on April 8 in celebration of the birth anniversary of President Kim Il Sung.

Seen at the festival venue is an art work depicting tender-hearted President Kim Il Sung?and Chairman?Kim Jong Il?seeing the calligraphy skill of a schoolgirl.

Such calligraphic works as "The People Are God" and "Fork to Mangyongdae" dealing with the exploits of the President arouse yearning and reverence for the President.

A pencil drawing "We Will Go to Mt Paektu" and others depicting the working people and youth and students visiting the revolutionary battle sites in the area of Mt Paektu give fine ideological and artistic representation of our people's will to brilliantly carry forward and develop down through generations the revolutionary cause of Juche.

Displayed at the venue were also the works showing with powerful and refined technique the spirit of the Korean people who turned out in the struggle for implementing the decisions of the 8th Congress of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) and the 2nd Plenary Meeting of the 8th WPK Central Committee.

The works of various subjects vividly show the new generation volunteering to work in difficult and labor-consuming fields?in response to the Party's call.
