75th Anniversary of GFSTK First Natural History Museum of DPR
Pyongyang, April 14 (KCNA) -- The Natural History Museum of Kim Il Sung University is situated at the foot of Ryongnam Hill in Pyongyang, the capital city of the DPRK.

It, the first natural history museum in the country, has served as a base for education and scientific research and dissemination, which gives comprehensive knowledge of the country's underground resources and fauna and flora resources.

The museum is divided into 14 exhibition districts, where on display are more than 10,000 animal, plant, mineral, rock and fossil specimens of great academic significance, including thousands of specimens sent by President Kim Il Sung, Chairman Kim Jong Il and the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un.

The history of the museum was begun by President Kim Il Sung after Korea's liberation from Japan's colonial rule. When Kim Il Sung University was founded on October 1, 1946, he visualized a plan for building the museum.

To develop the Biological Science House of the university into a modern natural history museum for the overall study of the country's natural resources, climatic and soil conditions and fauna and flora resources, he chose a site for the museum and solved all materials needed for its construction.

After all, the museum was wonderfully built in April Juche 65 (1976).
