Socialist Labor Law of DPRK
Pyongyang, April 17 (KCNA) -- "The Socialist Labor Law of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea" was adopted at the Second Session of the Sixth Supreme People's Assembly of the DPRK on April 18, Juche 67 (1978).

The day is recorded in the history as a significant day when the exemplary code on labor life of the Korean people in socialist society was instituted.

The Socialist Labor Law specifies labor as the most sacred and honorable one in socialist society and provides the people with the legal rights to lead a worthwhile labor life.

This law is based on the labor programme presented by President Kim Il Sung during the anti-Japanese revolutionary struggle and on the precious experience gained in its realization.

At "The Ten-Point Programme of the Association for the Restoration of the Fatherland" published on May 5, 1936, the President clarified that such democratic labor laws should be enacted as on the removal of slave labor, the enforcement of eight-hour working system and the improvement of labor conditions.

He promulgated the "Labor Law for the Factory and Office Workers in North Korea" in 1946 after Korea's liberation from Japan's colonial rule (August 15, 1945) to free the people from colonial slave labor and make them lead a worthwhile labor life as the masters of building a new country.

After the successful socialist revolution and the establishment of socialist system in the country, he mapped out and authored a new socialist labor law to regulate and legally ensure the labor life of the working people.

The Socialist Labor Law consists of 79 articles in 8 chapters.
