Thongloun Sisoulith in his letter expressed his sincere thanks to the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un for sending a verbal message to notify the accounts of the 8th Congress of the WPK, and wholeheartedly congratulated once again the congress of the WPK on its commendable successes.

He said that he was very pleased to see that the friendly relations of long tradition between Laos and the DPRK provided by the preceding leaders have steadily developed despite the intricate regional and international situation and challenges in the past, adding this is highly considered by him.

He notified in detail the accounts of the 11th Congress of the LPRP which was held between January 13 and 15.

He said that in the period under review the LPRP led the whole nation and army and all the people overcoming all difficulties in the revolutionary spirit to accomplish many successes and firmly ensure the political stability of the country, adding that the congress took steps to develop the party into the one upright, strong and sound enough to defend the country and lead the socialist construction in the new period by carrying out the political line and spurring the party building.

And he noted that the congress adopted the 9th Five-Year Plan for the socio-economic development of the country and set forth it as the supreme goal of the party to steadily consolidate the people's democratic system by respecting the people's rights as the master and making sure they further exercise them, and to rely on the people, guarantee their interests and provide them with happiness.

He expressed a firm stand that the Lao party and government would value the friendly and cooperative relations between the two parties, states and peoples of Laos and the DPRK, which have a long tradition and are based on comradely and fraternal fellowship, and will make all efforts to further develop them, stressing that the LPRP will continuously maintain the external line for peace, independence, friendship, development and cooperation.

He invited Kim Jong Un to visit the LPDR at a convenient time, saying that he wholeheartedly hope to meet him.

He sincerely wished Kim Jong Un good health, happiness and successes in his noble work of leading the endeavors of the WPK and the Korean people to implement the decisions made at the 8th Congress of the WPK.
