Production of Mineral Fertilizers Brisk in DPRK
Pyongyang, April 28 (KCNA) -- A drive for producing mineral fertilizers has been conducted in the agricultural sector of the DPRK to implement the decisions of the Second Plenary Meeting of the Eighth Workers' Party of Korea Central Committee.

The mineral fertilizer is lower in production cost than the chemical fertilizer and gives no harmful effect on the ecological environment. And it is good for the growth and yield of crops. The country has rich mineral fertilizer resources like phosphorite, zeolite, vermiculite, wad, ultraanthracite, weathered coal and salt field moss.

North Phyongan Province turned out a large quantity of phosphate ore for farms in cities and counties, along with the provision of hundreds of tons of concentrated sulfuric acid. The province is now hastening the production of substitute phosphorus, potassic fertilizer and multi-element mineral fertilizer.

North Hwanghae Province made super-phosphate from phosphorite buried in its area to use it for cultivating rice seedlings. It is also stepping up the work to additionally secure tens of thousands of tons of phosphorite for farms in cities and counties and use slag from the Hwanghae Iron and Steel Complex for producing mineral fertilizers. Meanwhile, the province has propelled the work to introduce various mineral fertilizers like multi-element mineral fertilizer made of zeolite, vermiculite, ultraanthracite, etc. into farming.

Kangwon Province, too, produced and supplied a large amount of vermiculite to farms. And it is taking steps for its cities and counties to make mineral fertilizers with locally available resources.
