Mangyongdae Schoolchildren's Palace

Pyongyang, May 7 (KCNA) -- The Mangyongdae Schoolchildren's Palace, a comprehensive extracurricular educational base for schoolchildren, is situated in Mangyongdae District, Pyongyang, the capital city of the DPRK. The palace has many rooms for various hobby groups as well as modernly-equipped theatre, library, gymnasium, swimming pool and other facilities. Its architectural form depicts the broad bosom of the Workers' Party of Korea that is called mother by the people. It is associated with the warm love of President Kim Il Sung, Chairman Kim Jong Il and the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un. In Juche 73 (1984) the President gave an instruction that a new modern street should be built in Mangyongdae district and initiated the construction of a schoolchildren's palace. True to his intention, the Chairman made a plan for building the palace splendidly and energetically guided the work to complete its miniature on the highest level. Under their loving care and energetic guidance, the palace was built in a little over two years and completed in May 1989. The respected General Secretary Kim Jong Un visited the palace in May 2014 and said that it is the determination of the Party to let sons and daughters of the working people give full play to their talents. And he took detailed measures for its reconstruction. The vast reconstruction project was successfully carried out in a short time. After all, the palace turned into a better monumental edifice that can be proud of in the world Over the past 30-odd years, the palace has produced a large number of talents for such sectors as science, arts and sports. |
