Repairing Irrigation Facilities and River Improvement Brisk
Pyongyang, May 13 (KCNA) -- Projects for repairing irrigation facilities and improving rivers are full steam ahead across the country to provide for disastrous climatic conditions.

North Hwanghae Province has finished clearing and reinforcing the main waterways in the province including Lake Sohung and Miru Plain waterways. It is now taking stock of places vulnerable to floods.

Reinforcing embankments and dredging river-bed have been done in qualitative way in various counties of South Hwanghae Province, which considerably increased the capacity of water passage.

Effective overhauling and maintenance of pumping facilities have resulted in full-capacity operation and major pumping stations have been repaired with materials procured with much effort, all meant for smooth irrigation.

Onchon County of Nampho City has completed the project for expanding capacity in some sections of the West Sea waterway and for building new irrigation structures or repairing existing ones in more than 10 points. New waterway has been set up in Ansok field, a guarantee for safe farming in the tideland.

Farms in other provinces also take such measures as dredging river-bed and reinforcing embankments to minimize damage of arable land and crops by potential floods.
