In the era, the Chollima workteam movement had been dynamically conducted to bring about rapid and leaping progress in socialist construction. It was a mass education and innovation movement for remolding the people along communist lines and bringing about a surge in production.

Among the forerunners of this movement were Jin Ung Won-led workteam at the Chollima Steel Complex (then Kangson Steel Plant).

President Kim Il Sung visited the Kangson Steel Plant in December Juche 45 (1956) and called on its workers to produce iron and steel in a larger quantity.

In hearty response to his call, the workteam led by Jin Ung Won shortened the time of a heat by more than three hours, starting from the first tapping for the implementation of the five-year (1957-1961) plan.

In February 1959, the President visited the plant again and kindled a fire of the Chollima workteam movement. Encouraged by his trust, the workteam members pledged to turn out in the movement in March that year. They overcame outmoded viewpoint and work-style like egoism and hastened the production through collective innovation, thus contributing to carrying out the five-year plan of the plant before the set time.

While striving to increase the steel production under the communist slogan "One for all and all for one!", the workteam had the honor of being the first Chollima workteam in the country.

The movement was rapidly spread throughout the country, and more than 760 workteams had won the title of Chollima Workteam until August 1960 when a national conference of frontrankers of the Chollima workteam movement was held.

The noble spiritual world of those persons in the age of Chollima is vividly shown in multipart film "The Nation and Destiny" (Workers) favored by its viewers.

The DPRK people are now demonstrating, in the struggle to implement the decisions of the 8th Congress of the Workers' Party of Korea, the same heroic fighting spirit and stamina as was displayed in the Chollima age.
