Pyongyang, May 17 (KCNA) -- Women's union organizations at all levels in the DPRK are stepping up their preparations for silk culture. The Central Committee of the Socialist Women's Union of Korea (SWUK) launched a socialist emulation drive for brisk silk culture to facilitate the improvement of the people's standard of living, true to the decisions made at the Second Plenary Meeting of the Eighth Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea. The SWUK committees in North and South Hwanghae Provinces have created scores of hectares of mulberry fields in a brief span of time, and those in Kangwon Province and South Hamgyong Province spread a large amount of manure on their mulberry fields. Women's union organizations in North Hamgyong Province and Nampho City applied advanced methods to sapling cultivation under a plan for producing mulberry saplings of good species, thus breeding hundreds of thousands of mulberry saplings. The North Phyongan Provincial Committee of the SWUK disseminated new technology and good experience among its organizations so that the union members are well versed in sci-tech information and knowledge concerning silk culture and mulberry cultivation. Other union members across the country are making sincere preparations for silk culture with a single mind to devote themselves to carrying out the first-year tasks of the new five-year plan. |
