The Chemical Industry Institute of the Ministry of Chemical Industry newly arranged study rooms necessary for completing the structure of chemical industry relying on our own raw materials and resources and began to form research groups with talented persons.

Research groups for catalyst technology were reinforced 1.3 times at fertilizer production units.

Meanwhile, factory colleges at the major chemical industrial establishments started the education in catalyst technology in March. And such works for improving the technical personnel's knowledge and skills have been intensified as organization of extramural lectures by researchers and teachers from scientific institutes and educational units.

The central task facing the chemical industry in the new five-year plan period, set forth at the 8th Congress of the Workers' Party of Korea, is to give precedence to building up its own technical forces, step up the improvement of its structure, and drastically increase the production of chemical goods necessary for economic construction and the improvement of the people's standard of living.
