Recycling Gains Momentum in DPRK
Pyongyang, May 19 (KCNA) -- The DPRK pushes ahead with recycling, regarding it as an important motive force for the national economic development.

After establishing various recycling processes, many industrial establishments have turned out products needed for the economic construction and people's livelihood with recycled materials.

The Kim Jong Thae Electric Locomotive Complex has obtained a large amount of nonferrous metals and plastic in a day from the waste cables.

The Sinuiju Footwear Factory completed a waste rubber recycling method to provide raw materials for shoes. Its reclaimed rubber is not inferior to crude rubber in tensile strength and elongation percentage.

The Rangnang Synthetic Resin Paper Factory arranged a waste vinyl processing process to produce vinyl sheets necessary for farm work.

The Pyongyang Cosmetics Factory has produced detersive gel soaps with waste oil from public catering establishments. Its gel soaps are winning popularity among users for their good moisture effect.

The Kangwon Provincial Telecommunication Management Bureau, too, made hundreds of optical fibre cable joint boxes and other products by economizing 70 percent of raw materials through recycling of waste.
