The Chairman made public his famous work "On Architecture" on May 21, Juche 80 (1991) to provide an important guideline for creating the socialist architecture.

In the work, he gave a scientific exposition of the relations between architecture and society and between architecture and mankind and?clarified the essence, characteristics and mission of socialist architecture, the position and role of architecture in social development and the fundamentals in the creation of socialist architecture.

The work, which systematizes in an overall way all the problems arising in the creation of socialist architecture, has served as a theoretical and practical guide in developing the architectural creation in conformity with the desire and demands of the popular masses.

Thanks to the guidance of the Chairman who set forth a great programme for the Juche-oriented architecture, a period of upsurge in construction was opened and many monumental edifices were built in the country.

In the new century of Juche, a great golden age of construction was ushered in and edifices representing the times have sprung up like bamboo shoots after rain under the wise guidance of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un who is creditably carrying forward the Chairman's idea on architecture.

New streets, dwelling houses, cultural life bases, modern factories and other edifices for the people's wellbeing have appeared one after another in different parts of the country to renew its appearance with each passing day.
