The editorial continues:

We should not rest on our laurels but put spurs to our drive in order to pave a wide avenue for this year's advance towards a fresh victory in socialist construction by fulfilling the first half-yearly plans at all costs.

This year is the first year for implementing the new five-year plan for national economic development. The first-year work is very important in attaining the new long-term goal set by the Eighth Congress of the Workers' Party of Korea. Fulfillment of the national economic plan for the first half of the year is of great significance in doing so.

Whether the first half-yearly plan is attained or not is not merely an economic and business issue but an important political issue of clearly proving the validity and vitality of the Party's policy.

It is our mission to defend the Party's dignity and prestige with great successes in implementing the first half-yearly national economic plan.

We should clearly demonstrate to the world how we carry out the plans and decisions of the Party by adorning every moment with creation and innovation with an indomitable spirit and through a strenuous offensive.

Let's firmly ensure the victorious advance of our revolution by going all out for the implementation of the first year tasks of the five-year plan.
