Founding Anniversary of KCU
Pyongyang, June 4 (KCNA) -- The forthcoming June 6 marks the 75th founding anniversary of the Korean Children's Union (KCU).

The history of the KCU, a mass political organization of Korean children, is associated with the feats of President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il who had worked heart and soul for the development of the Juche-based children's movement.

The President formed the Saenal Children's Union and the Children's Corps during the anti-Japanese revolutionary struggle, thus providing a precious tradition of the children's movement in Korea. And he founded the KCU on June 6, Juche 35 (1946), the next year after Korea's liberation from Japan's colonial rule.

The President and the Chairman newly set the slogans of the KCU in accordance with the advance of the revolution and made public celebrated works to indicate the tasks and ways for improving the work of the KCU and further developing the children's movement in the DPRK.

They also made sure that it was adopted as an eternal policy of the DPRK to ensure a free education system for all children and supply school uniforms to them and that wonderful children's palaces and camps were built in the best places of the country. Under their loving care, the KCU members could grow up to be successors to the revolution shouldering the future of the country.

Today, the children's movement in the country has greeted a new heyday of its development under the guidance of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un.

The Joint National Meeting of the KCU Organizations in celebration of the 66th KCU birthday, the 8th Congress of the KCU and other KCU events were splendidly held thanks to his meticulous care.

Three millions of KCU members are now preparing themselves as the true sons and daughters of the socialist country and masters of the future, inheriting the revolutionary tradition of the Anti-Japanese Children's Corps and proudly fluttering the flag of the KCU.
