Advantageous Education System in DPRK
Pyongyang, June 8 (KCNA) -- Given an ample educational environment and conditions, all citizens in the DPRK can learn to their hearts' content. The country is just like a huge campus.

The universal compulsory primary education came into effect in Juche 45 (1956). Two years later, the universal compulsory secondary education began in the DPRK.

The ordinance of the Supreme People's Assembly (SPA) on enforcing the universal nine-year compulsory technical education was issued in 1966 and the universal compulsory eleven-year education was put into effect from September 1, 1975.

In particular, the ordinance of the SPA on enforcing the universal 12-year compulsory education was promulgated in September, 2012.

Students receive new school uniforms and things every year and study free of charge, cultivating their skills at extracurricular education centers in different parts of the country.

The benefits of free education also go to those enrolled on the study-while-working educational course.

Those enrolled in factory and farm colleges, fishermen's colleges and the distance education system receive quality education, just like students who receive regular education.

The tele-education systems established by many universities including Kim Il Sung University and Kim Chaek University of Technology help working people and officials study at their worksites.

The Grand People's Study House and the Sci-Tech Complex, the grand seat of learning for all people and the latest sci-tech learning space, draw many working people, youths and students.

In addition, sci-tech learning spaces were set up in every province, sector and unit to ensure that everyone learns sci-tech knowledge to the full.
