Pyongyang, June 11 (KCNA) -- In the DPRK, everybody makes study tour of the revolutionary battle sites in the area of Mt Paektu to cherish the noble spirit of the anti-Japanese revolutionary forerunners who shed their blood for national liberation. The study tour of those revolutionary battle sites was begun by Chairman Kim Jong Il in his teens. In the mid-1950s when the hostile forces' anti-DPRK moves reached the extremes, the Chairman made a great and courageous decision to organize the first study tour of the revolutionary battle sites in the area of Mt Paektu. President Kim Il Sung supported his decision and encouraged him to start the first study tour with a firm resolution, noting there is an old Korean saying that the early bird catches the worm. At the foot of Mt Paektu in those days, there was only a hunter's trail. Early in June Juche 45 (1956), the Chairman formed an expedition with students of Pyongyang Secondary School No. 1, the first group of visitors to the revolutionary battle sites in the country, and set out on the historic study tour of the revolutionary battle sites in the area of Mt Paektu. After finishing the study tour, he said that he keenly felt how glorious and great our Party's revolutionary traditions established by the President in the period of the anti-Japanese armed struggle are. In the wake of the peerlessly great man, the people in the DPRK have learned from the toughness and revolutionary spirit of the anti-Japanese revolutionary forerunners, making study tour of the revolutionary battle sites in the area of Mt Paektu generation after generation. They preserve the strong spirit of Paektu through their visit to the revolutionary battle sites in good or bad days and even in the coldest season and dedicate themselves to the prosperity of socialist Korea, singing the song "We Will Go to Mt Paektu". |
